Table 1 | Le Corbusier Furnitures

Year: 1928
Designer:

Le Corbusier

Materials: matte black lacquered oval tubular steel structure with four adjustable, threaded supports, glass top.

Given his conviction that home furnishings had to be manufactured on a industrial scale, his designs were all prepared with an eye to series productions. The supporting structure of the table consists of oval metal tubes, that were widely used in aeronautics, and make it functional without unnecessary frills. Originally the table-top was natural or painted wood, but that was replaced with glass to highlight the metal structure.
