Year: 1900
Designer: Charles Rennie Mackintosh
Materials: black-lacquered ash, padded seat upholstered in leather or fabric.
In 1900 Mackintosh designed three variations of a chair with three different height backs but identical seats. They were ordered for the “White Dining Room” and the “Cloister Room” in Miss Catherine Cranston’s Ingram Street tearooms. These high-backed chairs were the most widely used models in the tearooms.
